6 Things

My friend, Amy, has a  funny blog. I am constantly delighted when I read her insightful, thoughtful and funny posts. It is way for us to reconnect  since we grew up together but have not seen each other in many many years. That is 2nd reason why I LOVE blogs.  You get to know old friends, new friends, stay caught up with family far away, be inspired by peoples skills and talents. The 1st reason I LOVE blogging is to keep track of my own family. The funny stories, the cute pictures and a written record of my life.

On Amy's blog she tagged me to come up with 6 quirks about myself. Here is a trip into my mind.

1. I can only have the green side of my favorite quilt touching me. I just like it better that way.

2. I practice conversations that I am going to have with people. Good conversations as well as bad. You can imagine how crazy I am when I have big news to tell. "Okay, so I am going to say, I'm whatever. Then she would say, ASH, that's awesome. Then I will say, I know."

3. I like to have all my books on my nightstand facing towards me, with the titles showing. Then on my bookshelf all my books are color coordinated. In fact, I color code lots of things. My closet, the kids closet, the kids markers and crayons, my calendar and all of the DVDs.

4. I always touch the outside of a plane before boarding it.

5. I can never eat ONE cracker. I am afraid that I am leaving " its"  loved one behind so I always eat at least 2.

6.I HATE chipped nail polish. Not so quirkie, I know. But I ALWAYS have my toe nails painted. Even when I lived in cold climates and wore socks and shoes all winter. Had my toe nails painted.

How to Totally Judge a Book by the Cover

1. Want something super light and fluffy to read.

2.Go the library with 2 kids. One who wants a bag around her like her brother. Even though the bag is dragging on the floor.

3. The children section is at a sharp left as you go in the library. Spy the NEW RELEASE shelf to the right and see a book that you have been wanting to read (Take Back Your Family by Rev Run).  Grab it.

4. See another book. It is PINK and cute. It says the word, ROMANCE on the cover and maybe the word SHEET.

5. Chase kids around library. Finally pick out a couple of books and of course a movie (because he NEVER gets to watch TV at home)

6. Check out. Don't look at the books but make sure everyone has a books in their library bags.

7. Next day getting ready to leave for a Dr. appointment. Grab that cute chic lit book that you got from the library to read while waiting.

8. Actually read the cover of what you grabbed:

"Pure Romance in the Sheets"

then see the subtitle:
"A guide to your sexual self and how to pleasure your partner " or something like that. Open the book to make sure it isn't about a girl in New York, working a crappy job but trying to find love.

Pleasuring Yourself is in bold.

The Year of Books

I love books. LOVE books. I love to read. This past year I have kind of lost my time and troubles in reading. This year I read 67 books. I know that is a lot.  In past years I read around 56 and 40 something. I started keeping track 3 years ago and have come to love my book journals. I usually write a short page about the book/what I thought about the book. I also give it a letter grade.  I sometimes include what is also going on in my life. I can tell when things are busy (no books listed) or if I am on vacation (lots of books read) or if I am really stressed (TONS of books).    But I am happy with what I read, how I spent my extra time and characters I met.

A Letter

Dear Ms. X,

Let's be honest. We will NEVER be friends. I think you are very okay and my husband is in love with you. It is not even his dirty little secert. He openly yearns for Saturdays and Sundays AND Monday night. I think you are loud and BORING. Sorry but it is true.

Yesterday when he was suppose to be watching our daughter, I found her outside and he was in the cabin chatting about YOU.  How good you feel. How fun you are.  How he can hardly wait until next weekend when he is planning on being with you!

WHO CARES!!!!!

Please go away.

Love,
Ashley-Hater-of-You......Football.

School

School started for us this week. Finally. Crewe has been feeling left out as all his little buddies started kindergarten a couple of weeks ago. We decided to keep Crewe with us for 1 more year. It really is the best choice for us but the past couple of weeks have been a little bit....lame.

So on Monday I went with him to school. The parents are suppose to go and stay for the whole time. Crewe found me after 15 minutes and said, "Okay, Mom you can stay for ONE.MORE.MINUTE and then you have to go!"

I guess he was ready for school. Me too.
