no more

Last night we went to look at Christmas lights. There is a crazy house in livermore. You get out of your house and wander through thier front yard. It has millions of lights covering every inch. I took amazing pictures of the evening.

Then we went by another house that was all decked out in lights. When all of the sudden SANTA caming wandering out of the garage. He came up to our car. Crewe exclaimed, "Hi, Santa!!!". Santa gave him a candy cane and then asked what he wanted for Christmas. Crewe then listed off his selection of cars that he wants, said thanks for the candy and we drove on. ( A drive in/by Santa, who knew?) I was so proud of Crewe for being so brave. He wasn't afraid. He was amazing.

We arrived home and I was starting to work on my post with great pics and MY CAMERA BROKE!!!! MY 2.2 MEGA-PIXAL CAMERA FINALLY BROKE!! SO SAD. (and we already spent our Christmas money on a new couch) SO NO NEW PICTURES FOR AWHILE!!!!! The story isn't so great without the pictures. So sad.

Shoes

Crewe's shoes are TOO small, again. We tried to find the same shoes because he LOVES his puma shoes. But no luck. So my dad bought him these great Nike shoes. HE WILL NOT WEAR THEM!!! Today I squeezed his feet into his Puma's and with each step he would say, "ow, Ouch!!!!".

"Your shoes are too small."

"No they are too big!"

"Do you want to wear these (bring the cute Nike's over) shoes. They won't hurt your feet."

"No, they're too white!"

"What the.......?!*# Too white? What does that mean?"

Happy Feet

I woke up this morning feeling really crappy. I may have the flu on top of the pregnancy sickness but maybe not. I was super sick last night so maybe it was more like a hangover. Anyway, I decided that Crewe and I had to leave the house today. My mental health depended on it. So we went to the movie, "happy feet." We saw it in IMAX. My ticket was alot of money but Crewe was free so it worked. It is a really cute movie with good music. A couple of scary chase scenes with a seal and two killer whales. Crewe sat on my lap the whole time and take my hand and cover his eyes when he was scared. Kind of wierd ending but we were having such a good time, it was okay. I love having a date with my son. I am feeling better because I enjoyed myself so much. Go figure!

the zoo

We spent yesterday morning at the zoo. It was such a lovley day. Crewe had a great time and we enjoyed the warm weather. We finished visiting the animals with a couple of rides at the zoo park. Crewe is getting so big and brave. He used to make us hold his hands on the rides or would shake on the merry-go-round. Now he jumps on aboard and doesn't look back. He is not related to me, the chicken mother.

Out of town

I have not blogged in a long time but this time I have a good excuse. Crewe and I went to Montana for a couple of weeks. We had the best, cold, time. We love going and it has been hard to come back home. Crewe keeps telling me that he is ready to go on "vacation again, to Grandma's and Tiger's".
Last night was Halloween. Crewe loved everyone wearing thier costumes but wanted nothing to do with wearing one. So we finally dressed his up as a 50's kid. good. He LOVED trick or treating. He would run to each door and yell, "knock, knock. Trick or Treat!!!!" It was really a fun evening. This is the best picture I got of Crewe (he wasn't picking his nose but it looks like it...great) (the picture wont' load up so I will add it later.)

I don't like feet but I love.....

I don't like feet but I LOVE pedicures. I was having a pretty crappy day. I felt crappy, I looked crappy and I was thinking of selling Crewe on Ebay. I couldn't really afford a pedicure so I did the trick that works for me. I went to the nail salon and had a buff and polish. WAY cheap and my toes look like they have had a pedi. I even took a few pictures of the new toes to show everyone but the foot part of it was looking puffy and pregnant so no luck in posting. But close your eyes and imagine hot pink toe nails with pale pink sequins making a flower. WONDERFUL!!! I feel better and I will even keep Crewe.

Hell

Someone stole AJ's purse today at church. I am pretty sure they are going down for that one!!! Here are some other no no's.

1. Tagging and burning ethan and natalie's church. Not good.

2. At the store when they say, "would you like to donate $1 to help dying, poor children?" And Mrs. Big Diamonds says, "no!".

3. Stealing your wedding dress.

4. Knowing of and liking the show "Mac and Cheese."

5. Laughing at ugly babies!!!

6. Not stopping to help other teams (Amazing Race) when there car breaks down. Especially when all they wanted was your jack to fix their tire. What comes around, goes around.

Grey's Anatomy

Ok, I have a lot of things to say about last night's season opener of Grey's Anantomy. I know, I am a huge TV nerd. I don't care!!! I love this show and I thought last night's episode SUCKED!!!! I loved the lat 5 minutes but the 55 before it....I gave the whole show a C-. Here are my reasons:

1. I HATE flashback shows- all types. Made up flashbacks are the worse. It is like when "friends" would do flashbacks. They would try to recreate thier old hair, old moments. MOVE ON.... AND the flashbacks didn't give any new information. They didn't give us new info that is imports, ala "Lost".

2. I thought the story of the plauge MAYBE coming back was LAME!!!! They didn't need to work that hard to have a reason for George and Shepherd to talk. And the plauge??? They couldn't think of anything else?????

3.I wasn't expecting things to be resloved and wrapped nicely but they barley touched on the drama at all. They didn't show the hand tremoring hand dr, Dr. Burke until the end. AH!!!!

Indian Food

I love Indian food. Richard has never had it. This is (not that good of a shot) a pic of Rich enjoying his new lunch earlier this week. Also a shot of my food (sorry for the gross food shot). * notice the animal watching over my plate.....yes Crewe was there too!

sorry

I know I have not posted in a long time. I am sorry. I hate it when other blogs are not updated more often. I have no excuse...and still not much to say. We drove up to Concord (about 45min) today to eat lunch at Spaghetti Factory. I have been dreaming about eating there (It was good; mostly if filling a pregnant women's cravings). Julie went with us and it was very nice day. I went to Walmart and wandered around looking a baby clothes (I wish I knew for sure that I was having a boy!!!) Now, Crewe and Rich are wrestling around as we are waiting for dinner to cook. Enjoy the shots.

breakfast

Crewe found the salad tossers/servers that my parents brought back from Africia. He LOVES them because they have giraffes on them. He decided that he needed to eat his breakfast with them. So funny. This breakfast was also remarkable because I was eating. This is the second anti-puking pill that I have takend (4 a day) and I feel better. I feel like I have the flu, not like before when I felt like I was living on Death's Door. So far I have been able to keep 1/2 slice of french toast. yeah!!!!

funny things Crewe says....

i just have so many funny things that Crewe has been saying in the last couple of days. After you done gagging(all parents think thier kids are so charming and funny)...you can read this post or skip it.

1. When the dr came into the room yesterday Crewe said to him, "you fix Mommy? Don 't fix Crewe, only Mommy!"

2. I told him that he was going to be a big brother. Crewe replied, "No big brother, I'M CREWE!!!"

3. Crewe rubs his chin in a pondering way and says, "now let's see".

4. When he likes what we are going to do he raises his little finger in the air and says, "Good idea!"

Tuesday, September 05, 2006

It's a baby!!! We went to the doctor today and got to check in on the little one. We had Crewe with us and when we showed him the ultrasound machine with the baby he said, "that's not a baby. It's a seahorse!!!" Nice. The dr was a little bit concerned on how sick I have been. He wanted to put in the hosptial for 24hrs to get ahold of the puking. Instead we are going to try some medicine and check back next week. I am so grateful that this baby is doing well. yeah!

Books

This past year I decided to keep a book journal. I wrote down each book that I read (I did leave out a few that sucked so bad I couldn't finish. I have a new rule that I don't have to finish all books I start) wrote a little review/thoughts about the book and I gave the book a grade. I started Aug 25 2005. I read 54 books this year. Some months I read lots (spent a week in Mexico) and some hardly at all (this month I read 1 book). It has been a great record of my year. The books reflected what was going on in my life or my mood at the time. I will continue to do this and would encourage "bookies" to do the same!!!

Weird dinner

It was a babygroup girls night out tonight and I decided that I could use the distraction from my "mom leaving blues". So I went to sushi. I ended up not knowing the other girls very well (I thought a few of my for sure friends would have been there but...) The dinner was a little weird and awkward getting to know each other but then I realized that there were no forks. ANYWHERE!!! Already I was the dork at the table who ordered chicken but I couldn't be a geek and ask for a fork. So I taught myself to eat with chopstick (which I have tried before and SUCKED). I did it. I faked the chopstick usage. I even ate rice!!! Yeah

Our boy Crewe turned three yesterday!!!!! We went to the zoo and then had a big BBQ at the park. Crewe played hard all day, only stopping to eat cake for dinner. We love our boy.

the dad; the blogger

My dad wants me to acknowledge his comments that he made about the coyote ugly entry, (with crewe saying whorses not horses). Ah dad, you are so funny! I wish you would get your own blog name so you could get the credit that you so deserve. It is like the time that my mom was coming to visit me. I was checking her arrival time when I received this email from "mom." "sorry I won't be coming today i just can't leave dad, i will miss him too much!" (notice no caps or periods, a sign that is from dad) Any thoughts on what his blog name could be????

Birthday Countdown

Yesterday Crewe recieved a birthday card at church. He was so excitied that there was a cake on the card and candles. He has been saying over and over, "Happy Birthday Crewe!". "Thanks Mommy, Daddy for Happy Birthday to Crewe." It could have been his birthday yesterday, he doesn't know. He just wants cake with "fire" to be at his party. His birthday is on Saturday and I am not sure I can listen to this all week. So we made a birthday paper chain. We all colored the chain and we are going to work on a countdown until the big day. Let the countdown begin.....

This Sunday

So today has been a quite day. We went to church this morning and a boy in my primary class brought me his favorite book to read. "Cyrptid Hunters." It looks like I have to eat my words and read the book that they ALL have been recommending to me for months. Yeah
I also had a really wierd dream last night. Aaron and Natali had another baby. However, the baby was 2 years old by the time he was born. ALSO we was Drew's twin. AND they named him ANDREW. Drew and Andrew. Ah! This baby that I am growing is bringing me the strangest dreams. Go figure.

Baby shower

I had a baby shower at my house the other night. I loved how the table turned out. I used my new Kate Spade pink polk-a-dot dishes that I got for my birthday. I didn't have enough so only every other plate got the pink ones. I also had to use some of Crissie's china to fill the table but I think the whole thing turned out beautiful. I loved putting the table together and using all my fabolous china. yeah

Coyote Ugly

Last night Crewe was having a really hard time sleeping. He has this awful cough/cold. So around 9:30 we woke him up to give him some medicine. It is a total song and dance and he was very awake when we were done. I offered him to come and lay on the couch with me and snuggle (back to sleep).
I was watching "Coyote Ugly" the movie. Crewe just sat next to me and watched. Nothing was said until the girls hopped on the bar to dance. Crewe jumped up and said, "Cowboys!!! Yee-ha!!!". Then I called Rich out of the bedroom to tell him and when he came out Crewe turned to him and said, "They forgot their horses!".

the ginger is back

Ah, ginger cookies are back in my life. I don't like ginger cookies. I am lukewarm on ginger. BUT I am very barfy. ALL THE TIME!!! So ginger cookies are back. When I went to the store this morning (first thing, couldn't handle eating breakfast) I bought a huge box and the cashier said to me, "those are so addicting". What?!* Not addicting, tolrable.

Tuesday, August 08, 2006

Ah, Mickey

"Oh Mickey, your're so fine you blown my mine. Hey Mickey, Hey Mickey." Okay so I don't think the song is really talking about Mickey Mouse but the sentiment is the same. Crewe can not stop talking about the famous meeting. He also saw Minnie and waved to her and mugged with Pluto. Such a moment for the boy!

the gift

The oufit Crewe is wearing in the picture was a gift from Ethan and Natalie.....when he was born. They gave me the outfit and said that they didn't know sizes but they looked so small that they thought he would wear it very soon. It just now fits. The shirt is a 2T and the shorts are 4T. (in real shorts Crewe doesn't even wear 4's yet). We love this outfit and it only took 3 years to fit. Yeah. Thanks for the great gifts guys.

not much

I have not posted anything in a few days because I felt like I had nothing quarky to comment about. We had a really nice simple weekend. The weather has been killing us and most eveings we hide out at John and Aj's to escape the heat. We have little window air conditioners but the can't keep up with this Arizona heat.( we are NOT in Arizona) We went swimming this eveing at Sandy's and when we left her house the temp said 117. HOLY CRAP!!! I didn't sign up for this. Crewe and I also escaped today by going to the free family movie. "Jonah, a Veggietale movie". I can't get the theme song out of my head. GREAT!!!

We went to a birthday party for one of Crewe's friends today. He loved it.It was a Strawberry Shortcake themed party. Crewe kept saying, "Clara (kayleen's little girl) LOVES THE SHORTCAKE!" Also, no surprise ..... he LOVED the cake. And I love him.

We love Waffles

So I have not been in a cooking mood....It is over 100 degrees everyday. Go figure. So we have been dinning on waffles. Here is my latest favorite recipe. It is so good.

Waffles
1 3/4 c flour
2 tea. baking powder
1/2 tea. salt
1 Tablespoon sugar
3 eggs
7 tablespoons of vegatable oil
1 1/2 c. milk

Preheat waffle iron. Sift dry indgredients. Separate eggs, putting the whites in mixer. Beat the egg whites until they are stiff. Put whites in a bowl and set aside. Now in mixer, add egg yolks, oil, milk with the dry indgredients. Beat until there are no lumps in the batter. Fold the egg whites into the batter. Pit a full 1/2 c. batter in your waffle iron. This recipe makes about 8 waffles.

The boys

When crewe finds the camera he always wants me to take a picture and say cheese. It is hard to actually get him to sit still for the shot and he always wants it to include his cars. Go figure. Well I got one shot only because it was with his dad. So this is the best I can do.

Things of Joy

So we have had the worse week in the Palmer history. Instead of dewelling and listing all the crap that has happened this week, I am going to make myself think of a list of things that bring me joy.

1. The egg rolls from Trader Joes. They are crispy and spicy and I love them. They also are only 1 point of a piece in Weight Watcher land.

2. Gilmore Girls- There are three episodes on tonight. All re -runs but still....Also the new season will be back Sept 28th.

3. Rich. Everything about him is wonderful, delightful and awesome. He is cleaning right now as I sit and type. I love that he is a complusive cleaner.

4. Books. So with the "sickness" plaguing our house, I have been able to read, read, read. I am rereading Jane Green's books. I read them so long ago that they seem new. A very nice feature.

5. Last Comic Standing. NBC 9pm tuesday night. Enough said.....

6. How Crewe talks. He found a feather yesterday that floated out our couch. It was white. It was floating around his mouth. He grabbed the feather, brought it to me and said, "Crewe's chocking on Donald Duck."

We arE sick

This is a funky picture of crewe watching a show. (it makes me laugh) Crewe is sick today. I was up last night with me for a LONG time. ( we don't really have to get up in the night anymore with him.) So this moring his fever was high and when I was trying to give him medicine he decided to throw up all over me. Great! Then i put him in the tub. I brought in a popcicle for him. He looked at me and said, "No, thank you. Red popcicle is gross!". HOW DOES HE KNOW WHAT GROSS IS?

Emeril Live

Rich I are watching Food tv tonight. I told Rich that I didn't want to watch Emeril. He never makes anything I want to eat. I WAS WRONG!! We saw Emeril make the best looking cookie. He called it a cake but it really was a large cookie pie. I hope someone makes it and enjoys it.

Giant Chocolate Cookie Cake (rich wants to rename it)
2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2 cups plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups bittersweet chocolate chips
3/4 cup white chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped macadamia nuts
1/2 cup chopped toasted walnuts
Confectioners' sugar, for garnish
Sweetened cocoa, for garnish
Sweetened whipped cream, accompaniment
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Line a 14-inch, light colored, round pizza pan with parchment paper and grease the parchment paper.
In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugars. Add the eggs, beating well after the addition of each.

In a bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt and mix with a whisk. Add to the butter mixture, mixing to incorporate, and add the vanilla extract. Fold in the dark and white chips and the nuts. Spread across the bottom of the prepared pan and bake until the edges are golden and the cookie is set but the center is still slightly soft, 20 to 25 minutes. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

To serve, sift confectioners' sugar and sweetened cocoa over the top, and cut into wedges. Serve sweetened whipped cream on the side.

Book signing

Last night I went into the city for an author's signing. I met Emily Giffin, author of my favorite book, "Something Borrowed". It is the best chic lit book I have ever read. She was there to promote her new book, "Baby Proof." She spoke for 45 min about how she came up with the story line for "Baby Proof", her thoughts, her process. She included a small reading from the book and then took open questions. It was really cool. She was smart, witty and very kind. If she felt like she had more to say when someone asked a question she would add, "email me and I will talk to you more about it." She was a total smart ass that made references to People magazine and "Friends." I think she was speaking to my soul!!!!!
READ HER BOOKS!!!

Dentist

I hate the dentist. (Sorry, Nan, I love you but not your profession). I am afraid of the dentist. It makes me sick to even think about having to go the dentist. I woke up in the middle of the night worrying about going to the dentist. Why go? BECAUSE I AM IN PAIN!!!! I have never had such intense, awful tooth pain. EVER!!!! It woke up in the night 3 times with aches and screaming pain. SO, I went to see my dentist here in CA. (Normally I go to the wonderful Dr. Natali Schofield in UT and she gives me Valium to make it through the day). So I went to Dr. Kearl (who is also Rich's uncle) and it went okay. He then sent me to another Dr. To talk about having a root canal. WHAT! A root canal. And it will take 2 appointments to take care of it plus a crown from the dentist. AND IT IS GOING TO COST $1200. That is more than our rent!!!! I am not a happy woman. I am going to face the music today at 3:15pm. I hope I make it back alive. (can they give me an epidural for this??????)

Crewe is in love....

> Crewe is in love right now. WITH CARS!!! He carries them around at all times. He drives them up and down the walls in the hallway. He drives on displays in the stores and on windows when we are in restruants. He carries MANY cars at 1 time. "The Purple car, the blue car, daddy's porsche, the tow truck and the red car." Five cars at all times. Even when he sleeps.

Wonder Spot

I am reading a book right now. "The Wonder Spot" by Melissa Banks. It is the same author who wrote " The Girls Guide to Hunting and Fishing". I am enjoying the book but I am not LOVING the book. I hate that when it happens. I want to be reading a book that I think about all the time or at least wanting to read. Not chosing to watch "Dragontales" AGAIN!!!! I wonder when Crewe will be able to read by himself.....

Grey' Anatomy

So my reasons why I love "Grey's Anatomy". But tonight I love it because it is on....Thursday night. I believe it is the pilot and another episode from season 1. Did you know that each episode is titled, based on a title of a song? Great music in the background. You can go to their homepage and get a list of the music that is played on each episode. My favorite is Ben Lee, "Catch my Disease".

I still love FRIENDS!!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the television show "Friends". I have been watching the reruns latley and I have been enjoying it all over again. What do I love?

1. It's so funny. I laughed so hard at the one when Ross "is fine".
2. I love it when Monica shouts, "I know!!!"
3. Chandler and Monica just went through infertility testing. I know what that feels like.
4. I love when Ross goes to the spray on tan place and ends up with an 8 on the front and 0 on the back.
5. I Love when I refer to the characters as people I know and my friends act like it is normal.
6. I love quoting scenes with Kayleen.
7. I love the pre-laugh I give when I know the upcoming joke.
8. I love that reruns are on everyday.
9. I love the Brad Pitt Episode.
10. I love this show.

The Monkey Movie and a date with Crewe

Crewe and I went to "the Monkey Movie" also known as "Curious George" this morning. It is part of the free family festival that goes on at our theater. It was free so we thought we would go. So did all of the East Bay. They had it playing in three theaters and we will still ended up in the front row. Didn't bother Crewe. After we went to Fuddruckers for lunch, followed by a quick stop at Target. It was a lovely day that I enjoyed with my son. He is amazing. He is now asleep, exhausted from the date day. I love him!!!!
